The raw material for wood fibre insulation materials consists of slabs, splinters and wood chips of native softwoods which arise as byproducts in sawmills. With wood, a raw material which is renewable, unlimited resources are available. In the manufacturing process in environmentally friendly production plants, the use of artificial flame-proofing agents, fungicides and pesticides is deliberately avoided. The wood's own substance of lignin is used as the binder without the addition of further external binding agents, lignin already performs this function in the tree.
