The soak away was filled with Marley Waterlock on the east side of the site today. The Waterlock cells mimic the natural drainage process that occurs on untouched land where the water slowly drains through the various levels of soil and rock and finally feeds into the drainage system. Waterlock artificially recreates this process by slowing down the rate at which the water filters through and into the storm drainage therefore avoiding storm surges. The Waterlock cells can store the storm water and subsequently release the water slowly into the drainage system.
The cells are simple and easy to install and stack like building blocks with clips to keep them in place. The storm drain is attached at the bottom of the stack so that water can be carried away and a membrane is placed over the top of the cells to stop any debris from clogging up the system.
Marley Waterlock can be purchased form Drain Center and the full details of the product can be found in the drainage section of this website.
