The Pilkington Activ™ Suncool glass is fitted into the curtain walling in the top of the street. This glazing is produced by combining Solar Control Glass and Activ™Self – Cleaning Glass.
The Pilkington Solar Control Glass range provides a method of controlling the effects of the sun on the internal environment. Glass controls solar radiation by reflectance, transmittance and absorbance. Solar control can be achieved in a number of ways including body-tinted glass, coated glass, and laminated glass with tinted interlayers and insulating glass. The blend of these characteristics together with an understanding of the environment can lead to best result.
Pilkington Activ™ Self-Cleaning Glass uses the forces of nature to maintain its clear appearance without leaving unsightly streaks. In a dual-action process organic dirt is broken down by daylight and is then washed away by rain, thus making it environmentally friendly and very easy to maintain.
The benefits of self-cleaning glass are numerous. Significant savings can be made in terms of cleaning costs with buildings featuring large areas of glass and additionally there will be no harmful detergents entering watercourses. Pilkington Activ™ Self-Cleaning Glass can also be combined with a range of different products to offer many additional benefits (such as thermal, solar and noise control).
