During the week commencing 3 September, the installation of the beam and block floor commenced. A large mobile crane arrived on site together with the professional team from Hanson. Over the week the beams were craned into place onto the existing cross members already completed. Then the space between the beams is filled with blocks. Hanson offers the most environmentally friendly range of aircrete products available in the UK today. Thermalite not only contains up to 80% recycled materials, but is the first block to receive a Certified Environmental Profile and Ecopoints score from the BRE (Building Research Establishment), achieving an ‘A’ rating in the Green Guide to Specification.
The floor in the South wing is constructed using the beams butting up to one another with a cement fill. By the end of the week the job was complete.
