Energy prices have been on the rise for the last few years and are set to rise further as UK supplies dwindle and more of our fuel needs to be imported.
In 2007, figures show that an average standard credit electricity bill increased by £45 to £383 and an average direct debit and prepayment bill increased by £36 to £349 and £42 to £401 respectively.
There have also been similar rises in gas bills with the standard credit gas bill in 2007 rising by £78 over average 2006 bills to £552, and average direct debit bills increasing by £73 to £497, and prepayment bills increased by £91 to £589 (BERR 2008).
There is now pressure to reduce energy consumption domestically and commercially by fitting insulation, more energy efficient lighting and appliances and installing renewable technologies.
DID YOU KNOW?
If every UK household installed three compact fluorescent lightbulbs (energy saving bulbs) enough energy would be saved in a year to supply all the street lighting in the UK (EEPH 2008).
Why not take a look at some of the renewable technologies available that can help to drastically reduce your reliance on fossil fuels. We also have a range of energy efficient lighting options available.
